Part-time The purpose of this position is to operate and maintain Allen Event Center sound, light, and video systems. This is accomplished by operating and maintaining system amp racks, speaker boxes, audio consoles, microphones, LED displays, content control systems, cameras, switchers, replay units, spot lights, and lighting controllers. Other duties may include providing assistance to various departments, assembling equipment, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other City employees. Essential Functions The information listed below is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Maintains the facility's sound, light, and video systems by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, running diagnostics on systems, repairing or replacing parts and components, replacing cables, and other general maintenance activities. Completes audio work by running and patching cables, setting up PA systems, running audio consoles, syncing wireless systems, and performing preventative maintenance of audio systems. Completes lighting work by replacing lamps and light bulbs, focusing fixtures, repairing and replacing fixtures, running lighting control software, operating spot lights, and performing preventative maintenance on lighting systems. Provides assistance to various departments by delivering furniture and supplies, assembling furniture and work stations, installing electrical and computer lines in workstations, setting up for meetings and events and picking up and delivering mail. Completes video work by operating cameras, running and patching cables, operating video switchers, operating replay controllers, operating content control systems,, and performing preventative maintenance on video systems. Job Requirements Formal Education/Knowledge Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency. Work requires a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites, display control systems such as Daktronics Show Control, music playback systems such as Click Effects Pro Audio and other various audio visual systems. Experience Two years of relevant experience Other Requirements/Certifications Valid Class C Drivers License Supplemental Information Reading Basic - Ability to recognize meaning of common two- or three-syllable words. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study. Math Basic - Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study. Writing Basic - Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study. Managerial Receives general directions. The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. The employee may choose the appropriate procedure or policy. Performance is reviewed periodically. Supervisory/Organizational Control No responsibility for the direction or supervision of others. Complexity Work involves choices of action within limits set by standard practices and procedures. Professional judgment is required to apply the proper course of action.
