Summary/Objective This position is responsible for ensuring that the Audio Technology Recording Studio, Electronic Music Studio, and related facilities in the Kreeger, Katzen Arts Center, and Jack Child Hall buildings are fully functional, current, safe, supported, and optimally scheduled for the benefit of teaching, research, and service activities. The Manager develops, executes, and monitors, in consultation with the ATEC Program Director and the DPA Chair, a comprehensive plan for effective operations and maintenance, including: supervision, scheduling, and training for part-time and student staff, covering up to 18 hours of operations each day; scheduling, monitoring, or direct effort in maintenance, upgrades, and upkeep of associated audio-visual equipment, computers, hardware, and software; tracking equipment check-in and check-out as well as monitoring equipment inventories; development of purchasing and operating budget proposals, as directed by the DPA Chair; and, coordination with Public Safety, Facilities Management, and other campus units to ensure the facilities are well-kept and secure. Work Environment Supervising, scheduling, and training part-time and/or student workers to support studio and facility operations Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 35-Nonexempt Coordinator/Analyst A Salary Range Commensurate with experience Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree related to Audio Technology or equivalent field experience (at least 4 years as a professional) 1-3 years of relevant experience Thorough knowledge of recording engineering, digital audio technology, electronic music technology, computers, video systems, networks, and the relevance of these technologies to related media Fundamental technical skills in the area of basic studio electronics Interpersonal and written communication skills are very important Preferred Education and Experience 1-3 years of relevant experience in studio or facility management, including equipment purchasing, maintenance, repair; coordination with outside vendors and suppliers; positive customer or user service; and supervisory experience Additional Eligibility Qualifications Hiring offers for this position are contingent on successful completion of a background check Current American University Employees: If you are a current full-time or part-time staff member at American University, please log into AsuccessfulU through the myAU portal.
