Responsible for the planning, research, and production of content for web communications. Assist the Director with strategy and development of web communications and services. Assists with the organization, training, and operations of the Web Communications Department. Coordination and execution of the digital content is a key role.


  • Manage the production of multimedia content for digital delivery, including but not limited to web pages, image galleries, videos, emails, and social media.
  • Establish and implement social media strategy for MCAD’s primary social media accounts. Advise other departments on social media best practices.
  • Oversee the production of email marketing initiatives and inform them of trends and best practices.
  • Review and evaluate web content for accuracy, performance, and audience focus.
  • Utilize A/B testing to improve content and enrollment goal completion.
  • Create and implement SEO and referral traffic strategies.
  • Maintain editorial voice and quality for electronic materials for external audiences and edit material developed by other offices to maintain consistent voice and message for the college.
  • Gather information from diverse sources throughout the college in preparation for creating online materials. Establish source of truth of content and process for delivering the content on the web.
  • Promote distributed content management, including determining departmental governance and necessary publishing approval workflows.
  • Hire, train, and manage casual labor and work-study employees and coach them in content creation best practices for higher education.
  • Research current trends and best practices in higher education web and in the greater web field. Implement updates to web content accordingly.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Web Communications.


Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent; in interactive media, communications, marketing, or related field.


  • 2–3+ years web writing
  • Web production
  • Social media for organizations
  • Drupal experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style, preferred
  • Art and Design background, preferred
  • Team lead or management experience, preferred


  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizations skills, required.
  • Computer experience required. CRM database experience preferred. Overall proficient skill-level in Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and basic computer concepts. Willingness and ability to learn new software.
  • Demonstrated grasp of electronic communication usability issues and practices
  • Writing and editing for digital and print.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • HTML/CAA proficiency
  • Photo/Video experience is beneficial

Desirable: The ideal candidate would have an appreciation of the visual arts and working with artists and designers.
